Q:
Why same kind of memory card with different memory capacity that cannot detect by the card reader?
A:
It is because there are so many new card types with different capacity and different format are running around in the market. So, the card reader just launched, there are new card launched that cannot compatible. Then, please read carefully with the detail information that printed on the packing before you choose the card reader.
Q:
Why the card reader cannot detect or slot-in with the MS Pro Duo/ RS MMC card?
A:
First of all, please check with the card is inserted with the right direction, most of the card cannot insert with the reverse side. On the other hand, the new MS Pro Duo or RS MMC card, most of them must compiled with the adapter before insert into the card reader. Should you have any question about the memory card, please contact with the memory card supplier.
Q:
Which model of the Card reader are able to support SDHC SD memory card?
A:
Currently, we do not know have any model is supporting the SDHC SD memory card, our factory is still testing for it. We are expecting the new model of the SDHC/Micro SDHC memory cards is coming within this month (Feb-2008).
CAUTION: Doing the following will erase any existing data on the drive. If the drive is damaged and you wish to recover the data, continuing may overwrite the existing information!
For Windows 2000/XP, go to Control Panel and select Administrative Tools. From there, choose Computer Management. On the LEFT pane, select Disk Management. Windows should now give you the option to initialize the disk. Go through the Wizard. Once complete, locate your hard drive in the bottom right pane (it should say Unallocated). Right click on the area that says Unallocated and choose New Partition. Follow the directions of the Windows wizard. Once complete, you should now be able to see the drive in Windows Explorer.
If the Wizard does not appear, look in the lower right pane and find your new drive (it will be listed as "Disk #"). If a red error symbol appears here, right click it and choose Initialize. Go through the Wizard. Once complete, or if the red error symbol was not present, continue below to Partition your disk.
Partitioning:
Locate your hard drive in the bottom right pane (it should be a black bar and labeled Unallocated). Right click on the area that says Unallocated and choose New Partition. A wizard should appear:
Choose Primary Partition, click Next.
Select the size of the partition. If you want your entire drive to be used as one large chunk, leave this as default. If you want to break the drive into smaller pieces, select the first drive size, click Next.
Select a drive letter, click Next.
The drive will likely be defaulted to NTFS format. Here you can enter a drive label if you wish or you can change it later. For new drives, we usually recommend against quick format as a normal format will be more thorough and better prepare your new drive. It can take up to an hour to complete though so if you need the drive quickly, quick format will be fine. Click Next then click Finish.
The disk should now be labeled Healthy and the black bar should now be blue. The drive will now be in the process of formatting and the progress should be displayed on the bar beneath the Healthy lable. The drive will now be visible in My Computer but will not be usable until the format has completed.
Q:
Where can I download WinXP/2000 drivers for the DataJacket/DataJacket 2?
A:
There are no drivers needed for the DataJacket/DataJacket2 3.5" enclosure. The DataJacket/DataJacket2 3.5" enclosure is plug and play compatible. That is, Windows XP/2000 will detect the unit without any additional drivers for both USB and eSATA. Only install the drivers if you are using Windows 98SE or Windows ME.
If you are using Windows XP or 2000 and are unable to get the hard drive to appear under My Computer, make sure the drive has been formatted and has a working partition. If you are unsure how to do this, please refer above question.
Q:
On the Venus Lan Drive package. It is showing only support 20GB to 400GB hard drive. Are they support more than 400GB hard drive?
A:
Yes, the Venus Lan Drive is able to support up to 750GB Hard disk.
Q:
Does the LAN Drive work with MAC OS?
A:
Yes, Driver installation is not required for systems using Mac OS 10.1.2 or above. Simply connect the LAN Drive using the included USB cable and access the data by clicking the :Untitled; HDD icon located on your Desktop.
Q:
Can I access the LAN Drive over a network?
A:
Yes, the LAN Drive can connect directly to a Home Network or Office Local Area Network (LAN) using the included RJ45 LAN cable. The LAN Drive will appear as a shared drive on your network.
Q:
Does the LAN Drive support power management?
A:
Yes, the LAN Drive supports 'sleep mode'. When there isn・t any hard drive activity within a pre-defined time (configurable between 5 and 60 minutes), the LAN Drive will power down the Hard Disk Drive to reduce power consumption and disk noise. The sleep time can be configured via the web control panel.
Q:
How does the LAN Drive achieve its data sharing capabilities?
A:
Utilizing the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol, the LAN Drive allows any computer client that supports SMB to share files. SMB, also referred to as CIFS or SAMBA is the standard method for sharing network drives in Windows, Linux and Macs. The built-in FTP server also allows any clients with internet connectivity to access the LAN Drive
Q:
Which file system does the LAN Drive support?
A:
The LAN Drive supports FAT32 when used as a LAN device. It also supports NTFS and FAT32 when used as a USB device. As a cross platform file server, FAT32 format is compatible with all major operating systems (Windows/Mac OS/Linux). The FAT32 format has a maximum single file size of 4 gigabytes. The LAN Drive operating system cleverly circumvents this limitation for files larger than 4GB by splitting and re-joining larger files transparently, on-the-fly (when used as a LAN device)
Q:
What is the size limitation for the LAN Drive?
A:
The LAN Drive support LBA (48-bit Logical Block Addressing) which in theory includes all hard drives from 32 gigabytes to 2 terabytes.
Q:
How do I format the disk? Do I need to format a disk before installing it into the LAN Drive?
A:
Formatting the disk is simple via the admin control panel. The control panel is accessed by a browser and has a disk utility that allows you to format the disk drive. Just drop a new unformatted IDE drive into the LAN Drive and it can be formatted as FAT32 in situ via the control panel. If a drive already contains data in a FAT32 partition, it will be automatically identified and be ready for use, you will not lose that data. NTFS drives can be installed and used via a USB connection, but will not be accessible over the LAN.
Q:
Can I use the LAN Drive to stream media like MP3s or AVI movies over my network?
A:
The LAN Drive can certainly be used to serve MP3's DIVX movies, and AVI files. The LAN Drive supports Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) and the maximum data read throughput is around 25 Mbps.
A compressed MP3 file requires only 200-300 kbps, which is easily achievable
A typical 2 hour DivX movie of around 700 - 800 MB in size, requires about 1 Mbps, again easily achieved.
A full DVD rip of around 4.7 GB, typically requires around 5 Mbps, again well within the capabilities of the LAN Drive.
So in most cases media streaming from the LAN Drive works perfectly well.
The LAN Drive provides streaming ability via SMB shared drives, it is not a uPNP server and does NOT contain any streaming media servers (such as SHOUTcast, ICEcast or SlimServer).
Q:
Can I access files on the LAN Drive over the Internet?
A:
FTP would work fine remotely, however you would typically need to set up port forwarding on your router/firewall. Anonymous FTP is supported but disabled by default, you can set up multiple accounts and determine which users have read and/or write permissions to which folders etc. Users can also be given a default home directory
Q:
Can I access files on the LAN Drive over a VPN (Virtual Private Network)?
A:
Yes, this should be easily achieved. The LAN Drive will appear on you LAN just like any other machine, and if you can access your current PCs on this LAN then you should be able to access the LAN Drive.
One issue may be the use of CIFS/SMB for file sharing, as this may not work over your VPN (depends if it forwards netbios broadcasts) if not then you can still use FTP to access the LAN Drive.
Q:
While using the USB hub which should be pay attention? And, how is the function of the optional AC adapter?
A:
When the peripheral products are low power consumption (e.g. Mouse/ Keyboard), user just connect the USB cable directly to the USB port. However, the peripheral products are high power consumption (e.g. printer/ Hard Disk Case/ optional CD writer, MP3 or Mobile phone) then optional AC adapter is needed to support for the high power output.
Procedure:
1.Before plug-in the power supply, please connect the AC adapter with the hub.
2.Just plug in with the data transfer cable then connected with the USB port.
3. Finished.
Q:
When the USB hubs connected with multi USB product, why the speed will slow down?
A:
It is because the hubs need to supply a high power supply at the same time when it connected with different computer accessories. So, it・s recommended to connect with the optional AC adapter to solve the slow down problem.
Q:
Why the hubs do not work properly while connected with the hardware product?
A:
There are a number of reasons:
(1) Please check whether the USB cable is connected or not
(2) Please look out the hubs display light is lighted up or not, if not please try to connect with another one.
(3) if then, the Hubs may be out of order, please contact with us.
